Former Toffee seals Spotland switch

Rochdale have swelled their ranks after snapping up former Everton striker Scott Spencer on non-contract terms. The Toffees paid Oldham a reported £500,000 figure to sign the teenager, although he failed to make the breakthrough at Goodison. Spencer had loan spells with Yeovil and Macclesfield during his three years at Everton, after previously netting 29 goals in Oldham's youth team. The 20-year-old was released by Everton this summer, but has now found a new home after agreeing non-contract terms at Spotland. Spencer could make his Rochdale debut under manager Keith Hill in their home League Two game against Aldershot this weekend.
