Cort arrives as Strevens breaks his leg

Brentford have confirmed the signing of former Newcastle and Wolves striker Carl Cort. The well-travelled 31-year-old, who finished last season with Norwich City, has now agreed terms with the Bees on an initial five-month deal. Cort's arrival is a welcome boost to Brentford boss Andy Scott, as he confirmed that Ben Strevens has broken his leg. "We've had news following Ben Strevens' injury on Saturday it appears he has broken his fibula," said Scott. "It's a big blow to us given his form, the level of fitness he was at, and the way he had settled into the group pre-season. "But now we need to make sure his recovery is spot on so that he can return as quickly as possible and in the meantime we need to find players to strengthen the squad in areas where we already have a couple of injuries."
