Blackpool have been rocked by the news that Danny Coid has suffered a pre-season injury setback.
The 27-year-old has a suspected fracture of his shinbone, with the problem set to keep him sidelined for a few months.
Coid was hurt during an innocuous-looking challenge in a friendly date at Rochdale last weekend.
His versatility will be greatly missed by Pools heading into the new campaign, with boss Ian Holloway disappointed to suffer such a blow at a crucial stage of his preparations.
"It is a suspected fracture and we have to have another look at it yet before we know for certain," he told the
Blackpool Gazette.
"If it is the case then he is very unlucky because it is very unusual.
"You normally get a bit of bone bruising, when you jump and land. But the top part of his leg has come down and crashed against the bottom part and he might have a fracture.
"It's bad luck for the lad and for us."

The setback has led to reports that Holloway will now look to bolster his defensive options before the transfer window slams shut, and the Pools boss has confirmed he is set to weigh up is options.
"It's been murmured that we're after a right-back and you can probably see why," he added.
"Danny covers four or five places for us so it's a blow if he is out for a while before the season has even started.
"That's why we're giving (trialist) Will Haining a chance as well.
"He plays in a position that I might need. I thought three centre-halves might be enough but with Danny Coid out now, that means Alex Baptiste has to go to right-back.
"There's no doubt we're short at the moment and it's why it is so important to get players in."
