Weaver ends Preston stint to train with Sheffield United
Sheffield United are hoping to agree terms with Glen Little to secure the winger's services on a permanent contract.
The former Reading man, who was released by Portsmouth at the end of last season, has been training with the Blades.
And Little did his chances of securing a deal no harm by scoring direct from a free-kick in the Blades' 2-0 win at Lincoln, where Leigh Bromby scored his third goal in as many games.
United manager Kevin Blackwell said: "Glen has been eulogising about the goal.
"I've told him it's not going to affect his negotiating power! We're still talking about a possible move for Glen, but we are not a million miles away."
Weaver
Jonathan Fortune is another player on trial at Bramall Lane but he did not feature against the Imps with Blackwell adding: "With regards to Jonathan, unfortunately he tweaked his hamstring at the weekend, that's why he didn't play at Lincoln.
"Hopefully it will only be a few days before he is back in contention, but I do need to see him in games before I make a decision."
Blackwell also revealed goalkeepers Nicky Weaver and Jimmy Walker are currently training with the squad.
Weaver recently left Preston after a similar stint training with the Deepdale outfit as he looks to secure a contract for the new season following his exit from Charlton.
