Sheff Utd boss Kevin Blackwell insists there is 'no crisis' regarding a new deal for Matthew Kilgallon.

Little in line for deal as Fortune hopes to impress

Sheffield United boss Kevin Blackwell insists there is 'no crisis' regarding a new contract for Matthew Kilgallon and also hopes to agree a deal for Glen Little. Kilgallon revealed earlier this month that he has been holding talks with the Blades regarding a new deal with the Championship club. However, after the defender was linked with Wigan and Birmingham there have been reports that the negotiations have stalled. Blackwell has played down any worries over Kilgallon's future at the club and plans a fresh round before the new season gets underway. "Everything is still ongoing," Blackwell told the Sheffield Star. "In any case, Killa is still under contract with us for another year. We've taken up options on everyone who had one. "So there's no crisis. We'll be having another chat with him before the start of the season." Blackwell also confirmed that experienced winger Little has been offered a contract after impressing during a pre-season trial at Bramall Lane. He added: "Glen has done okay and we're sitting down with him to see what can be done." Jonathan Fortune, who is out of contract at Charlton Athletic, is also aiming to earn a deal after linking up with the Blades. Blackwell continued: "Jonathan is going to spend the next few days with us and play in our next couple of games."
