Gunn pleased with midfielder talks

Norwich City boss Bryan Gunn claims to have held 'positive' talks with Preston midfielder Simon Whaley. The Canaries agreed a fee with the Lilywhites for the winger earlier this week and have now opened discussions regarding personal terms. Whaley met with Gunn in Scotland during Norwich's pre-season tour and appears to have edged closer to sealing a move to Carrow Road. Gunn told his club's official website: "We were given the opportunity to speak to Simon and we're hoping that the talks we've had have been impressive for him, obviously he's having a think about the situation now. "We're positive on both sides, I enjoyed my talks with Simon and hopefully Simon enjoyed the talks and seeing some of the lads in the squad. We're hoping to make a bit of progress on that over the course of the weekend." Gunn is also weighing up his options regarding trialist Goran Maric.

Physical

The Serb netted the only goal of the game during Thursday's narrow victory over St Johnstone and will be hoping to have done enough to earn a permanent deal. "He's doing the right things, I think that's important.," added Gunn. "He's mixed in with the players and on the pitch he's putting in the performances that make him tempting. "We'll hopefully see him in action again against Airdrie (on Saturday), he's with us for the whole week and we'll see what happens. "Certainly, when he scores goals and creates chances, he's a very physical player as well, he would be suited to playing in League One I'm sure."
