Irish keeper signs two-year contract at Blundell Park

Grimsby Town have completed the signing of veteran goalkeeper Nick Colgan on a free transfer. Colgan was released by Sunderland at the end of last season and has now agreed a two-year deal with Grimsby. Mariners boss Mike Newell has been in the market for a new keeper as he looks to improve on last season's 22nd place finish in League Two. Newell confirmed over the weekend that he had spoken to Colgan, but that it was 'nothing to get too excited about'. However, Colgan has now signed on at Blundell Park and will link up with his new team-mates on the pre-season trip to Devon on Tuesday. The 35-year-old joined Sunderland from Ipswich Town last summer, but he did not make a first-team appearance during his time with the Premier League club.
