Grimsby have offered Italian goalkeeper Kevin Strukelj a trial as they look to increase the size of their squad.
The Mariners are short of shot-stopping options following the departures of Phil Barnes and Gary Montgomery.
Strukelj, 24, has experience in Italy with Serie B side Torres Calcio but has most recently been playing in the Australian A-League.
Meanwhile, Grimsby boss Mike Newell has contacted former Sunderland goalkeeper Nick Colgan regarding a potential move to Blundell Park.
He told the Grimsby Telegraph: "I have spoken to Nick Colgan but only briefly. There has been no talk of offers or contracts or anything like that.
"I have spoken to a few goalkeepers about coming here so it is nothing to get too excited about."
