Defender poised to sign two-year extension

Ben Futcher has agreed a new deal at Bury, skysports.com understands. The giant defender has established himself as a key member of Bury's squad since his arrival from Peterborough in 2007. Futcher played an instrumental role in Bury's bid for League Two promotion, only to lose out to Shrewsbury in the play-off semi-finals. Bury boss Alan Knill was keen to keep the 27-year-old at Gigg Lane and terms have been agreed over a two-year deal, with the defender expected to put pen-to-paper early next week. "I am glad to commit my future to the club and continue working under the manager," Futcher told skysports.com. "Talks have reached a successful conclusion and I am due to sign a two-year deal early next week."
