David Artell has signed a new contract at Morecambe, but the League Two club have missed out on a new signing.
Former Chester defender Artell joined the Shrimps in 2007 and is approaching 90 appearances for Sammy McIlroy's side.
He has agreed a new one-year deal at Christie Park and is delighted to have pledged his future to the Shrimps.
"I am really happy here at Morecambe," Artell told the club's official website.
"It's a lovely club which is continuing to move forward and I want to be part of it again this season.''
Meanwhile, McIlroy has revealed he has been unable to agree a deal to bring an unnamed right-back to the club.
McIlroy said: "He was a player who I know could do a good job for us, but we weren't prepared to meet the terms he wanted and will continue to look elsewhere.''
