Skysports.com understands Danny Carlton looks set to leave Carlisle at the end of the season. Carlton's deal at Brunton Park expires in the summer and he is unlikely to extend his stay at the club. The 25-year-old has never really been given a chance to shine with the Cumbrians since his arrival from Morecambe in 2007 with the striker not being given a regular run in the side. Carlton has been farmed out on loan to Morecambe and Darlington this term and he is expected to seek pastures new in the summer in search of regular first-team football. A number of clubs are thought to be have alerted to Carlton's possible availability on a free transfer at the end of the season. The hard-working forward has impressed during his loan spell at Darlington, but the club's financial troubles are set to curtail the League Two side's chances of signing him permanently. Leeds are also thought to keeping a watching brief on Carlton's situation with Whites boss Simon Grayson a long-term admirer of the striker. Oldham could make a move for Carlton as they in the market for striking reinforcements, while Exeter and Shrewsbury are keeping tabs on his situation.
