Grimsby Town have completed the permanent signing of Rob Atkinson from Barnsley.
The 21-year-old central defender has been on loan with The Mariners for most of the season and has now penned a two-and-a-half year deal.
Atkinson was pleased to finally join Grimsby on a permanent basis, having also spent most of last term with the club.
"Obviously it has taken a couple of weeks to come to an agreement and make the final decision, but it is something that I am happy with," Atkinson said.
"It's a two-and-a-half year contract which gives me that little bit of security and plenty of time to improve under the guidance of Mike Newell.
"I'm looking forward to working under him and I am very happy with my decision.
"Like every footballer everyone wants to play on a Saturday and I'm no different.
"Hopefully I can now kick on and gain experience with every game we play."
