Shrewsbury Town have snapped up Nick Chadwick after the striker was released by Hereford United.
Chadwick, who joined Hereford in September after leaving Plymouth Argyle, was not offered an extension at Edgar Street.
However, he has quickly secured a new club after signing a contract until the end of the season with League Two side Shrewsbury.
Paul Simpson is a big fan of Chadwick and the Shrews boss has challenged the former Everton youngster to earn a longer contract at the club.
Second time around
"We've managed to secure the short-term signing of striker Nick Chadwick," Simpson told the club's
official website.
"He's a player who I have liked for a long time, I remember him as a young lad at Everton where he started out. He then had a £250,000 move to Plymouth where he played nearly 100 games but did have a couple of injuries.
"He came out of contract in the summer and I had conversations with his agent about coming here, but he wanted to stay as high as he could so went to Hereford in League One.
"We've now managed to get him in until the end of the season and the ball is really in his court to show everyone that he is still a player who is capable of playing at a higher level and secure something longer."
