Former Aberdeen defender ready to return to SPL

Defender Richie Byrne is refusing to rule out a permanent return to Scotland after training with Inverness. The 27-year-old, who quit Aberdeen in the summer, is out of contract after Oldham opted not to renew his short-term deal. Former Dunfermline player Byrne has, therefore, been working at Caledonian Stadium to maintain his fitness as he bids to secure a fresh club in the New Year transfer window. And free agent Byrne has indicated that he would consider signing for a club in the Scottish Premier League, if an offer materialises. "I would not rule out anything to be honest. At the moment Craig has given me training facilities at Inverness," he said in the Daily Record. "I would say I'm about two weeks away from being fully fit but I would have to wait until the January transfer window opens before I can sign for a Scottish club anyway."
