Striker makes debut against Vale after signing two-year contract

Chester City have signed former Bradford City striker Eddie Johnson on a two-year contract. Johnson was released by Bradford at the end of last season and has recently been training with League Two rivals Chester. He has now been rewarded with a contract and Blues boss Simon Davies hopes the 24-year-old can make an impact. "He gives us options as he can play either as one of the front two or play in midfield," Davies told BBC Radio Merseyside. "He is an attacking midfielder or out-and-out striker. He can play either of those roles really." The ex-Manchester United youngster has been thrown straight into the Chester team for his debut in Sunday's game at home to Port Vale.
