Darlington youngster Curtis Main has been ruled out of action for up to a month.
The teenage star has suffered ankle ligament damage and is facing a frustrating spell on the sidelines.
The 16-year-old, who became the Quakers' youngest ever first-team player at the age of 15 when he appeared against Peterborough last season, sustained the injury while representing the club's youth team in a 5-0 win over Doncaster last weekend.
The news comes as a blow to boss Dave Penney as his attacking resources have already been hit by Pawel Abbott's ankle problem.
Abbott is expected to be out until the New Year, leaving Liam Hatch, Billy Clarke, Gregg Blundell, Adam Proudlock and Jason Bradley to fight it out for two striking berths.
