Davies and Lloyd commit to Morecambe

Morecambe duo Scott Davies and Paul Lloyd have both penned new two-year deals with the club. Promising keeper Davies is looking to continue his education with the club and challenge first-choice Barry Roche for a starting role. "I am delighted to have signed for another two years and I aim to challenge Barry all the way for the number one spot," Davies told the club's official website. "I thought I did well last season when I came into the side but I am only young and I know I will keep on improving."

Davies has been joined by winger Lloyd in committing his future to the Christie Park outfit. Manager Sammy McIlroy feels the 21-year-old could make his first-team breakthrough following the departure of Garry Thompson. "Paul has shown great potential in the Reserves and in training although his first team chances have been limited at the moment," he added. "But with Garry Thompson leaving this is the year he may get that chance and we would love him to take his opportunity when it comes along. "He had a great game at Hartlepool last year and if he can provide that sort of performance on a consistent basis then he is another who could have a good career ahead of him."
