Midfielder signs two-year deal with Saddlers

Walsall have clinched their third signing of the summer with the arrival of midfielder Dwayne Mattis on a free transfer from Barnsley. The 26-year-old spent a four-game loan spell at The Banks's Stadium last season, only to see his time with the club cut short by injury. However, Saddlers boss Jimmy Mullen saw enough potential to launch a summer swoop and has secured Mattis on a two-year deal. The former Bury and Huddersfield man is delighted to have joined the League One club and is looking to build on the impressive displays he put in during the 2007/08 campaign. "When I came here on loan I really enjoyed my football, I know it was only four games and it got cut short by injury but I really got my love back for the game," Mattis told the club's official website. "We did well in that period (three wins and a draw) and hopefully we can do well in the two years that I'm here."
