Mike Edwards has insisted he never considered leaving Notts County after putting pen-to-paper on a new contract with the club.
The 28-year-old defender was linked with a move away from Meadow Lane but he put an end to the speculation this week by taking up County's offer of a two-year deal.
He is now tied to the League Two side until 2010 and he maintains it was always his intention to stay.
"I know it has taken a few weeks to get everything signed and sealed but I've had a manic few weeks since the end of the season," Edwards told County's official website.
"Right now it is a relief and a weight off my mind that I am a Notts County player for two more years.
"It was never even an issue of going elsewhere."
