Peterborough United manager Darren Ferguson is hoping the return of Chris Westwood from injury will save him splashing out on a new defender.
The Posh boss is currently in talks with an unnamed club over a defensive signing, however, Westwood's sooner-than-expected return to training after a knee injury may force a rethink.
"We did have preliminary talks about one player in particular, but there are complications and I certainly don't expect anything to happen this week," he told the Peterborough Evening Telegraph.
"The player concerned is a defender, but I'm hoping to get a good week's training into Chris Westwood.
"Saturday will probably come too soon for him, but if he comes through unscathed he may have a chance for the Rotherham match."
