Stockport County duo Keith Briggs and Michael Bowler will not be offered new contracts at Edgeley Park.
Both players had agreed short-term deals to help them recover from serious injury.
But County boss Jim Gannon has now confirmed the pair will both be released when their current deals expire in early January.
Briggs, 26, has struggled to hold down a regular first team slot this season and made only three starts for the League Two outfit.
The former graduate from the Hatters' School of Excellence has also struggled to shake off a niggling groin injury picked up in pre-season.
Ironically, he could figure in Saturday's clash with Grimsby if Jason Taylor fails to shake off an ankle injury.
Bowler, 20, made his debut in last season's Carling Cup tie with Derby and has gone on to make 17 appearances for the Hatters.
