Seagulls stopper sidelined with knee problem

Brighton & Hove Albion defender Adam Hinshelwood will miss the remainder of the season due to a knee injury. Hinshelwood has made just one first-team appearance in almost 12 months and underwent surgery on his cruciate ligament in the summer. An exploratory operation has shown up further problems, meaning Hinshelwood is out for at least four months. "A week ago Adam's knee blew up again and we made a decision for him to see the orthopaedic surgeon," Brighton physio Malcolm Stuart told the club's official website. "We sat down and had a long discussion between the consultant, ourselves and Adam, which culminated in him having an operation in London last Wednesday. "That discovered that there was a large surface defect on the medial femoral condyle; that was micro-fractured and Hinsh came out the following day. "It is just typical of Adam's luck that it should happen to him at this stage. What we're looking at now is him returning fully fit at the end of the four to six months period. We hope this will put an end to Adam's personal misery."
