Striker not leaving London Road

Peterborough are insistent that leading scorer Aaron McLean will not be sold in January. Charlton are reported to be keeping close tabs on McLean and his team-mate Craig Mackail-Smith. However, director of football Barry Fry says McLean - who has 17-goals to his name this season - will not be leaving London Road as the Posh look to seal promotion. "He won't go at any price," Fry told the Sun.

January moves

Indeed Peterborough boss Darren Ferguson wants to add to his squad, especially after defender Chris Westwood was rule out for six-weeks. "I have a meeting scheduled with the chairman next week when we will discuss possible transfer targets in January," said Ferguson. "We currently have 27 senior players which is probably a few too many so we will try and shift a few out as well. "I certainly wouldn't swap my chairman for anyone else. He's given me everything I've ever asked for because he's ambitious as I am. "Chris could be out for five to six weeks, but that's why we have a big squad full of players capable of playing first team football at this level. "We've lost Guy as well, but we wish him well. I made a professional decision based on the style of football I wanted to play. "I felt he would struggle if we played with full-backs who pushed forward and he accepted that. He wants to get on with his career and I respect that - I certainly don't think he will be without a club for long."
