Peterborough chairman Darragh MacAnthony says he will not apologise for making public his interest in Lincoln's Lee Frecklington.
MacAnthony released a statement over the weekend confirming that Posh had made enquiries for Frecklington, Chelmsford City winger Ricky Holmes and Grimsby full-back Tom Newey.
Lincoln chairman Steff Wright has already confirmed the Imps they plan to report MacAnthony to the Football League for "unsettling" the winger.
However, MacAnthony insists he has done nothing wrong in what he says was a "serious bid" for the player.
"I don't understand where he is coming from with his comments on contacting the Football League, " MacAnthony told the Peterborough Evening Telegraph.
"We enquired about buying the lad in the summer and again in the last week or so.
"We of course were not trying to unsettle the player as I had presumed that the club had informed the player of the enquiry. I have no reason to apologise for making a serious bid for any player."
