Milton Keynes Dons have failed to persuade Macclesfield Town to sell Kevin McIntyre.

Paul Ince has returned to his former club to sign Danny Swailes and also wanted to strike a deal for McIntyre.

But Macclesfield were not willing to part with the defender, with MK Dons assistant manager Ray Mathias admitting his side's interest.

"We spoke to Macclesfield about McIntyre when we were doing the deal for Swailes, but they weren't having it," said Mathias.

"McIntyre is a good player and would be a good addition to our squad, but they said it would deplete their squad, so they weren't keen on selling him.

"They would have been looking for a massive amount of money to let him go.

"Strengthening the left side to push Dean Lewington and Lloyd Dyer is our main priority, so we'll now have a look at other players."
