Danny Swailes has left Macclesfield Town to be reunited with Paul Ince at Milton Keynes Dons.
Macclesfield have accepted an undisclosed offer for the defender, who has signed a one-year contract.
Swailes spent two-and-a-half years at Moss Rose and was a key figure in The Silkmen's Football League survival last season.
He has now opted to work with Ince again, with the former England international's successor at Macclesfield - Ian Brightwell - confirming Swailes' departure.
"We have been aware of MK Dons' interest in Danny for some time, so when they approached us it didn't really come as much of a shock," Brightwell told the club's official website.
"There is a clause in Danny's new contract which he signed earlier this year that allows him to talk to other clubs if the offer was above a certain amount, so there was little we could do to stand in his way.
"It's a big loss for us, but we have some very good centre-halves at the club and it gives them an opportunity to make the position their own."
