Chester City midfielder Glenn Cronin's career is in doubt after he broke his foot again.

The 25-year-old Irishman only managed to start one game last season because of the problematic metatarsal and he has now broken it for a third time.

City chairman Stephen Vaughan confirmed the news, and admitted Cronin's career was in doubt.

"We've had it confirmed that Glenn's metatarsal has broken for the third time, this looks to be career threatening," said Vaughan.

"It's a major setback for the lad at such a young age. The whole team are really upset for Glenn."

Meanwhile, Chester have confirmed that Laurence Wilson (pictured) has signed a new deal.

The 20-year-old former Everton youngster has penned a two-year contract.

"Bobby [Williamson, manager] has been impressed with the application that Lawrence has shown in pre-season training.

"And he is a key component, not only in the squad that is being created for this season, but also for the future of this football club."
