Port Vale have signed Leyton Orient defender Clayton Fortune on loan for a second time.
Fortune enjoyed a successful spell on loan at Vale Park last season from Bristol City.
Leyton Orient beat Vale to Fortune's signature in the summer, but he has failed to hold down a regular place in Martin Ling's side.
Vale boss Martin Foyle has moved to sign Fortune until January to help ease his defensive problems.
"We are struggling for defenders at the moment. Jason is out with a broken rib, Colin Miles is on three bookings along with Richard Walker, Pilks is on four bookings and with so many games coming up I thought it was important we brought somebody in," Foyle told the club's official website.
"I searched high and low to bring somebody else in and then Clayton became available and I had no hesitation in taking him.
"It's a case of better the devil you know. He came here last season and struggled in his first couple of games, but he looks in good nick and he is raring to go."
