Worthy hails 'fantastic' win

York manager Nigel Worthington hailed his team as they held off a second half onslaught from Bury to register a 1-0 win.

Keith Lowe's fifth minute goal proved to be the difference between the sides as York stretched their unbeaten run to 15 games and crucially move five points clear of Oxford. The visitors had a number of chances to level the scores in the second half but Worthington paid tribute to his side as they registered a ninth clean sheet in 10 games. "It was a fantastic three points," he said. "The effort, commitment and resilience that the players have put in over the run has just been fantastic. We've played two important games in the space of three days, and physically and emotionally it can drain you. The lads have done exceptionally well and they were well worth the three points. "At some stage, no matter who you play or how well you are playing, the opposition are going to threaten, you need to be switched on, have a high level of concentration and resilience in order to keep clean sheets. I don't put any clean sheets down to the goalkeeper or back four, it starts from the front. "It's a team game and at this time of season it's not about individual players, it's about the team and squad and everyone is pulling together."
