Mellon happy with stalemate

Fleetwood boss Micky Mellon felt a point apiece was fair as his side made it four games unbeaten with a 2-2 draw at Cheltenham.

Junior Brown's last-gasp strike earned the Football League newcomers a point in stoppage time. David Ball gave the Cod Army the half-time lead before goals from Jeff Goulding and Sido Jombati in the space of 10 second-half minutes turned the game on its head. Brown prodded in from close range deep into stoppage time before home captain Alan Bennett was then sent off for violent conduct. "It wasn't a fantastic game to be honest and it was a battle at both ends of the pitch, but we hung in there and got the point we definitely deserved at the end," Mellon said. "To pick up a point at Cheltenham, we'd probably have taken that before the game, but at half-time a goal up, I'd have expected us to have gone on and won. We wanted seven points from nine from the last three games and we've achieved that, so we are pleased. "All in all, I think a draw was a fair result. We are disappointed to lose goals from set plays, but to get back in it at the end and get a result is pleasing."
