Jim Bentley was relieved to see Morecambe get their first home win of the season after they beat Chesterfield 2-0 in League Two on Tuesday.
Goals either side of half-time from Gary McDonald and Lewis Alessandra saw the Shrimps triumph at the Globe Arena for the first time since March.
"I know we haven't had the results we have been looking for here this season but I think the performances have, overall, been decent and this was a result that was coming," said Bentley.
"We played some great stuff at times and scored two excellent goals and could have had more.
"Chesterfield are a good side and on a good run but they didn't have a shot on target after we scored our first goal and nobody could say we didn't deserve the win.
"It was a bit of a relief in the end because it was a long time coming but hopefully now we can take confidence from this game, go on a bit of a run here and start giving our fans the results and performances they deserve."
