Brentford hopeful Alex Pritchard will be fit to face Wigan on Saturday

Brentford are hopeful Alex Pritchard will be fit for next weekend's crucial final-day clash with Wigan.

The on-loan Tottenham midfielder had to be substituted during Saturday's 2-0 win at Reading due to injury, but boss Mark Warburton revealed he was withdrawn as a precaution.

"Alex Pritchard got a kick on the calf, not a pull, and it was just precautionary to make sure it didn't stiffen up," said Warburton.

The Bees have to beat Wigan and hope Derby or Ipswich lose to claim a place in the play-offs.

Brentford kept alive their slim Championship play-off hopes with a 2-0 win at Reading - their first victory in five matches

"We obviously understand that if Ipswich win or draw we fall just short," added Warburton.

"The fact is that it's a big-pressure weekend, a lot of games.

"They go away to Blackburn, so all we can worry about is Brentford at a packed Griffin Park hopefully and put on a type of performance that we've delivered several weeks this season, and hopefully get the right result.

"Let's post 78 points and see where we are."
