Brentford goalkeeper Mark Smith has returned to the club after a loan spell at Hampton and Richmond Borough.

The goalkeeper, who joined in the summer from Queens Park Rangers, enjoyed a successful spell with the Beavers in the Ryman Premier League and was named as the club's player of the month in December and January.

In total he made 22 appearances, keeping four clean sheets since joining in October.

Ose Aibangee, academy director at Brentford, told the club's official website: "Mark has been Hampton's first choice goalkeeper for the last four months, which gives an indication as to how well he has done.

"He has been getting regular first team football at a good level, which has been good for his development.

"He learned what it is like to be involved in high-pressure games with points at stake, particularly with Hampton needing to win matches

"He will now return to us and our coaches will assess how he has improved.

"There may be an opportunity for Mark to go back out on loan later in the season but we look forward to having him back with us now."
