Brentford goalkeeper David Button has signed a new three-year contract with the newly-promoted Sky Bet Championship club.

The 25-year-old kept 19 clean sheets in 42 appearances as the Bees won promotion from Sky Bet League 1 in his first season at Griffin Park.

"Obviously I am delighted to sign," said Button, who joined the club from London rivals Charlton last summer.

"I loved my first year at the club. As soon as I found out that the club were interested in giving me an extension I was really happy and couldn't wait to get it signed.

"My first season here could only have been better if we had won the league."

Button faces former club Charlton in the Bees' opening Championship fixture.

He added: "I was delighted when I saw that we had Charlton first up.
