Sources report striker could follow Helguson to Wales

Sky Sports sources understand Queens Park Rangers forward Tommy Smith is undergoing a medical at Cardiff City. The striker moved to Loftus Road on a permanent three-year contract in 2011 having earlier joined on loan, but Mark Hughes is overhauling the squad he inherited from Neil Warnock. Cardiff boss Malky Mackay is happy to take advantage and has already signed former Watford colleague Heidar Helguson from QPR. Smith could be the next ex-Hornets player to move to Wales and the deal looks set to be completed on Thursday night. The 32-year-old has made 27 Premier League starts for QPR and has also played for Portsmouth, Derby County and Sunderland during his career.
