Alan Judge and Jeff Hughes are set to have their contracts at Notts County extended.

The midfield duo played vital roles in pushing the Magpies to the brink of the League One play-offs this season and look likely to be rewarded for their efforts. Judge was honoured with the Players' Player and Fans' Player of the Year awards, while Hughes netted 17 goals in a fruitful campaign. Both are contracted until 2013 but boss Keith Curle is eager to secure their services for longer. "We are entering into negotiations to extend their contracts at the club, which is great," Curle told the Nottingham Post. "They are both players who will make us competitive in this division. "They were key players for us last season with their creativity and goals and will be so important for us moving forward. They are both great professionals as well. They are only going to get better and that will make us better. "It sends out a strong message that we want to keep our best players and that they are the type of players we want at the club."
