Powell pondering Hayes return

Charlton manager Chris Powell admits he could call Paul Hayes back from his loan spell at Wycombe for the promotion run-in.

Hayes started the season as Charlton's first-choice striker but fell out of favour and was loaned out to Adams Park last month. The 28-year-old has since scored six goals to help boost the Chairboys' battle against relegation, but he could yet find himself playing a part in his parent club's title bid. Powell said: "It was always part of the thought process of mine to let him get some games and get him up to speed, and then have the ability to call him back. "I always felt it was beneficial to him but also to us that I could call him back with a vital run-in and have a player who is up to speed, confident and scoring goals. "I will have to wait and see whether to do that or whether to leave him at Wycombe, but I can call him back at any time."
