Brentford defender heads to Spotland until January

Rochdale have raided League One rivals Brentford to bring in Dutch defender Pim Balkestein on loan until January. Balkestein joined Brentford on a three-year contract from Ipswich Town last summer after enjoying two loan spells at Griffin Park. However, he has found himself on the periphery this season following former Manchester City striker Uwe Rosler's appointment as manager. The 24-year-old was an unused substitute for the Bees' opening two games of the campaign, but has not been included in the matchday squad for the subsequent two fixtures. He will now head to Rochdale until 18th January and could be involved in Saturday's local derby against Oldham Athletic.
