Gradi: Miller time for Alex

Crewe boss Dario Gradi hopes Shaun Miller can play a big role next season as the Alex look to life after Clayton Donaldson.

Donaldson is likely to leave the Alexandra Stadium this summer and League Two rivals Bradford City have declared an interest in the striker. However, with no solid interest in Miller, Gradi believes the 23-year-old can set League Two alight. "We've not really had any interest in Shaun that is of any consequence, so we're not expecting to sell him," Gradi told The Sentinel. "I've been expecting him to follow in the footsteps of Nicky Maynard, but he hasn't yet, so next year will be an important season for Shaun. "It could be the one for him to walk tall and become a really dangerous player in League Two." Miller knows filling the void left by Donaldson will be tough, adding: "It won't be easy to replace Clayton's goals next season, but hopefully I can add to my tally and then we'll be looking at the likes of Ajay (Leitch-Smith) to show what they can do."
