Robbie Simpson has revealed a meeting with Brentford manager Nicky Forster led to his goalscoring return to the side.
Striker Simpson was unable to get back into the team after recovering from a recent ankle injury and was left out of the squad for the Johnstone's Paint Trophy final against Carlisle and last weekend's clash with Swindon.
But he started his first game in six weeks at Rochdale on Saturday and grabbed the only goal in a 1-0 win to keep the Bees' faint play-off hopes alive.
"I owed that to the gaffer," he said.
"I was disappointed, not angry, to be left out at Wembley and I was a bit angry to be left out against Swindon. I made my feelings known and I was a bit rash with some of my words.
"I had a great meeting (with Forster), he put his faith in me and that is now 16 games started and eight goals."
