Midfielder's time at Elland Road comes to an end

Midfielder Jonathan Douglas has thanked the Leeds United fans for their support during his time at the club as he bids farewell to Elland Road. The Irishman becomes a free agent as his contract expires this summer and will hope to attract offers from clubs in the Championship, having spent most of his Leeds career in League One. The 27-year-old, who was signed by former manager Kevin Blackwell, leaves the club with fond memories and has praised the fans for their part in his enjoyment of his time there. "I've had four years at Leeds, I enjoyed my time there and it will be obviously a wrench leaving the club," he told the club's official website. "The fans have been great with me and I'd like to take this chance to thank them for all their support. They have stayed with the club through everything, turned up in numbers, and backed us to the hilt. "The biggest disappointment is that we couldn't reward the fans with something to celebrate for their support. "Losing the play-off final to Doncaster after coming from 15 points behind was a bitter disappointment, as was the semi-final defeat against Millwall last week."
