Skysports.com can confirm Southend midfielder Alan McCormack has turned down a new deal at Roots Hall.
Southend were keen to tie down McCormack to a long-term deal as they look to keep hold of their best players.
McCormack enjoyed a successful season at Roots Hall last helping the club reach the League One play-off semi-finals only to lose to Doncaster.
The 24-year-old scored nine goals last season and he turned in a lot of impressive in the heart of Southend's midfield last term.
His performances have not gone unnoticed amongst rival clubs and Southend opened talks over a new contract in a bid to warn off potential suitors.
However, McCormack's agent Clive Hart have confirmed the opening offer has been rejected.
"At the moment the contract offer to Alan has been turned down," Hart told skysports.com
"Therefore we are looking at all our options."
