Rotherham's Danny Ward is a man on a mission when he returns to Huddersfield on Saturday.

The 23-year-old made the switch from West Yorkshire to South in the January transfer window for a six-figure fee after three years and over 120 appearances at the John Smith's Stadium.

But the latter part of that time was spent out of the side and new Terriers boss Chris Powell allowed him to leave the club in January.

He has made a good start at the Millers, scoring two goals in the last two games and he looks set to be leading the line for Steve Evans' men in Saturday's clash in West Yorkshire.

With his new side hovering just six points above the drop zone and their safety far from assured, Ward knows the three points are the only thing that matters, but would not mind making a point against his former employers.

"We have to pick ourselves up and get ready for a massive game against Huddersfield on Saturday," Ward said after Tuesday's defeat to Cardiff.

"We have to try and get back to winnings ways. It's a massive game, I was there for two years and it would be nice to prove a little point but it's not a one-man team, it's about getting the three points.

"The last couple of years at Huddersfield was frustrating, I was in and out of the team and it wasn't happening.

"We're a team and we need to concentrate on getting the three points, that's the only thing that matters."

It looked as if the Millers were battling to avoid just one spot in the bottom three, with Blackpool and Wigan seemingly stranded, but back-to-back wins for Latics has reignited their hopes of safety.

Ward knows his side cannot rely on other teams to slip up and have to be masters of their own destiny.

"We can't sit back and rely on other teams to not get results, we need to look after ourselves to start with and get the three points and then it doesn't really matter," he added.
