Rotherham manager Steve Evans has admitted the next few weeks are crucial to his side's season.

The Millers are currently 21st in the Sky Bet Championship and are only three points above the relegation zone, having recently played several teams pushing for promotion to the Premier League.

Rotherham took just four points from games against Ipswich, Blackburn, Derby, Wolves and Watford but now face a series of games against teams at the other end of the Championship table.

We go forward with positivity but it is time to prove a point - not talk a point, we've got the games coming, we have to deal with them.

Their next four matches are against Millwall, Cardiff and Wigan at home, with a trip to Huddersfield sandwiched in between - and Evans is aware how important this run of fixtures could be.

"Back in the summer when the fixtures came out we knew that when we drove out of Watford in February we would have come through a tough, tough range of fixtures," Evans said.

"We go forward with positivity but it is time to prove a point - not talk a point, we've got the games coming, we have to deal with them.

"We identified how tough it was in February and we identified these are games we need to win in March."

If Rotherham beat Millwall, who are third from bottom, on Saturday it will move them six points above their visitors, but Evans does not believe it will be decisive.

"We don't kid ourselves, Millwall are a decent side, they are coming to do their bit," he added.

"Us staying in the Championship won't be decided by what happens on Saturday, but it would be nice to win."

Earlier in the week, Millers chairman Tony Stewart dismissed reports linking Evans to the Peterborough manager’s job – the League One side subsequently appointed Dave Robertson to the role.
