Rotherham defender Kirk Broadfoot is targeting a run of games at centre-back.
The 30-year-old has been deployed in both full-back positions this season but was in a more familiar central role during Saturday's 0-0 draw with Sheffield Wednesday as he replaced the injured Kari Arnason.
But it was not a trouble-free afternoon for the former Scotland international as he received a booking inside the opening 10 minutes for a particularly robust challenge on Gary Taylor-Fletcher, almost scored a calamitous own goal and was then involved in the most contentious incident of the game when Owls midfielder Kieran Lee went down under his challenge.
Referee Nigel Miller offered a reprieve and the Millers were able to hold out for a clean sheet.
With Arnason looking like he may have a broken toe, it could mean a prolonged period in the side for Broadfoot and he thinks that will help him improve.
"That's what I came here as, a centre-half," he said. "I pretty much played at right-back and then a couple of games at left-back and one at centre-half and then I picked up an injury.
"If I can get a run of games at centre-half I will get sharper and back to where I was.
"It's obviously difficult just getting chucked in in a derby, especially with the way Sheffield Wednesday play, they put you under pressure.
"It's difficult to find your feet, that comes with games so hopefully I can get a run at centre-back."
The Millers had the clearest chances in the stalemate, no better than Paul Green's chance after 20 minutes which he inexplicably headed wide, but Broadfoot was content with a point.
"From our point of view, it's good to get a clean sheet after conceding six goals in the last two games," he added.
"To come to a place like this and get a point, most teams would take that, especially in a derby.
"We'll build from that and look forward. We did have a couple of chances and we could maybe have nicked a goal.
"Paul Green's first one was really clear cut, I thought he should have scored. It's a point gained, especially the run we've been on."
