Adams eyes Championship chance

New signing Nicky Adams believes Rotherham United are set up for the promotion to the Championship.

The 27-year-old joined the Millers on a two-and-a-half-year deal for an undisclosed fee on transfer deadline day and arrives at a club in a promotion race in Sky Bet League One. Steve Evans' side, who were promoted from League Two last season, are in fifth place and although a challenge on the top two looks unlikely, they are well placed to book a play-off place come the end of the season. And Adams believes that if his new side can secure a second successive promotion then they could hit the ground running in the second tier. "If you look at the success the club has had over the last 18 months, getting promoted from League Two is not easy and then we're flying high in League One, getting to the Championship is the aim," he said. "That is one of the reasons I came here because of the ambition of the club. "With the players we have got here I don't see why we can't reach the Championship, we have got a long way to go but I believe if we carry on like we are doing then we have a great chance. "The club is set up for the Championship, if we can get there we could have a real go. "League One is a tough league and there are no easy games. We have to take it one game at a time and keep the momentum going and then we're in with a chance. "There are a lot of good teams in this diivsion but I believe we can do it."
