Evans pays respect in victory

Rotherham boss Steve Evans didn't celebrate his side's goals in their 2-1 win at Crawley out of respect for his former club.

Crawley went ahead at the Broadfield Stadium through an early strike from Mat Sadler, but goals from Kieran Agard and a first goal for the club by substitute David Worrall secured the Millers maximum points. Evans was quick to admit that getting a win on his return to Crawley was always going to be special for him, having led the West Sussex club into the Sky Bet Football League and then played a big part in securing another promotion to League One. The Glaswegian said: "I fancied us to win. I've met some great people and I said that win, lose or draw I would be a proud man. "I had a great reception and it was the first time in my career that I haven't celebrated goals - even though I was dancing inside. "I didn't out of my respect for Crawley Town. They are a fantastic club and I went to Rotherham as they have the potential to go higher." After securing two draws, Evans was delighted to record a first win in what he described as a "solid workmanlike performance". He added: "The sooner the first win comes the better. All over the pitch we have heart and desire and I told the chairman this week that I have a good feeling about this group."
