Evans explains Wilson absence

Steve Evans has revealed defender Laurie Wilson is not playing well enough to get picked in his Rotherham side.

The 26-year-old suffered a knee injury in September which kept him out for several weeks, but having regained fitness Evans has yet to reinstate him into his first team. Indeed, despite having Wilson fit and available, Evans opted to bring in Blackburn loanee Josh Morris into his squad, leaving the former Morecambe man out in the cold. "His form dictates that he shouldn't be in the team," Evans said. "His form in training and reserves doesn't say he should be getting picked. "Just because you're in the squad doesn't mean you're going to get picked. "He was struggling with his knee, he got back fit. Is he as fit as he could be? No. Is he getting there? Yes. Are his performances dictating he should be getting a shirt? No."
