Rotherham manager Steve Evans has confirmed the club have received interest in midfielder Kari Arnason.

The 29-year-old, who played 90 minutes for Iceland in midweek, only joined the club in the summer from Aberdeen. But his pedigree and pre-season performances have attracted enquiries from unnamed clubs before the curtain has even raised on the npower League Two season. "Kari Arnason has been nothing short of outstanding in pre-season and that is why the club have already been subject to calls on him," Evans said. "But unless it is right for us then no one will be leaving this football club. "I think the interest will grow. He can certainly play at the top of the Championship. "And he could have signed for two Championship clubs and at least five or six SPL clubs, but he was attracted here. "He has chosen to be part of something that will hopefully lead to the Championship."
