Rotherham boss Steve Evans is backing Nicky Hunt to resurrect his career in South Yorkshire.
The former Bolton defender has joined the Millers as a free agent after being released by Preston.
Hunt, 28, is Evans' fourth signing of the summer and he expects his new recruit to hit top form next season.
"There is no question we will bring the best out of Nicky. We have a track record as a management team of getting the best out of players," Evans told the Sheffield Star.
"I am sure he feels he has got a point to prove. But I saw him at Preston a few weeks ago and he was different class. I have no doubt he is going to show everyone what a talent he is. If Nicky produces his best, he will be in the team. If he doesn't, he will be sat on the bench.
"Nicky was due to meet a League One club on Monday but I phoned him up and persuaded him to come and have a look around the new stadium and the training ground facilities - we had to work hard to get him in."
